Get Back on Your Love Walk With God

For some days now, I’ve been in that place where I’m not exactly sure what’s going on, whether God is pleased with me, my service or my sacrifice. I’ve been in that place where I’m not sure if I’m giving God my best, if I’m actually doing enough for God.

Basically, I’m wondering where is the love? Why don’t I feel your love? Where is the joy from knowing and serving You?

Out of the blues, last night, I remembered this song from my first year in university titled “My Voice” by Wale Adenuga. Part of the song says:

In the morning when I wake up
I know Your Love was there for me
At the break of each new day
I know Your Love is renewed to me

I played the song over and over and I remembered what it means to just rest in God’s Love. I remembered what just sitting still and worshiping God felt like.

I’ve been caught up in a lot of activities that have affected my communion with God and honestly, I’m running on empty. The thing about running on empty is that you’re going to have to come to an abrupt halt and it can happen in the middle of nowhere.

Sometimes, we want to do all these mighty things for God and we forget that He is actually a caring Father that is interested in our relationship with Him and our well-being as well as our service to Him.

If you’re running on empty, you need to refuel and here’s a few ways to get back on your love walk with God:

  1. Understand that nothing can separate you from the love of God (Romans 8:38-39)
  2. Consciously create time to spend with your Father. You know, some “Daddy and Me” moments where you talk to Him (in prayer) and hear from Him (by reading His Word).
  3. Listen to some songs on God’s Love (Check out Mercy Chinwo’s Excess Love and  Our God is Love by Hillsong Worship)
  4. Find someone to love on. I learnt as a new believer that what you make happen for others, God will make happen for you so help someone else experience God’s love and you’ll see the same happen for you.

Have you ever felt distant from God? How did you get back on track? Drop me a comment.

Thanks for sharing MJ. I haven’t felt distant…I have been distant. It was a conscious effort to be distant from God because I thought He didn’t give me what I wanted…therefore He does not love me (oh how silly I was). But all that ‘fighting’ with God came to a halt when I realized I needed Him more than He needed me. He is the sovereign God!!! Anyway, I found my way again back to God again by joinng a small fellowship in my local community where my walk with God was rekindled again. I learnt how to let go of every hurt and just focused my everything on His unfailing love. He never left me even when I did.

Oh wow! That’s an amazing testimony and even more amazing is the fact that God is always there waiting for us to return.

  2. Inspiring! Practical!! Very relevant!!!
